Martin Mooree

Buncombe County Commission

I’m Martin moore

And I am proud to serve as one of your Buncombe County Commissioners

I’ve had the privilege of serving our community on County Commission since 2022. As an attorney, I’ve counseled my Western North Carolina neighbors, small businesses, and non-profits; helping them navigate our legal system and get back to supporting our community. As your Commissioner, I will continue to be a voice for quality education, safe communities, and a Buncombe where everyone can thrive.

I am a proud graduate of Leadership Asheville (Class 39), former chair of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Chair of the Board for OpenDoors of Asheville, and Co-Chair of the Board for the Campaign for Southern Equality.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina School of Law. I began my career here in Buncombe County. Over the last decade, I’ve had the honor of practicing law from helping juveniles as a public defender to working at one of the largest civil firms in Western North Carolina. I now focus on appellate cases, small business advising, and mediations, helping neighbors throughout North Carolina navigate our legal system.

On Commission, I have been a voice for our schools, supported our Sherriff’s Department and community safety initiatives, and an advocate for responsible environmental decisions. Our government works best when we have leaders who are willing to stand up for their neighbors and find practical, well-reasoned solutions to new challenges. I’ve spent my career fighting for my community and understanding how we improve systems, create opportunities, and prepare for a brighter future. I will continue to be a voice for education, and the people of Western North Carolina.
